Today we headed up to the marae again to film our gang scenes and two of the Wharenui interior tangi scenes.
Here are a few of our Mad Bulls showing their sign they have made up…
Beautiful Wahine relaxing between takes.
We spent the morning setting up with some of Merediths amazing and lovely ladies teaching us weaving … they are so clever and the weaving looked beautiful placed around Tori’s coffin, along with lots of pretty flowers.
We filmed some of our Mad Bulls scenes right by the beach in the sunshine! Can you believe how beautiful this spot is!?
Jol not posing at all but just casually hanging there!
The Wharenui is just absolutely stunning and we found that in order to really capture its beauty we needed to light it properly.
We also needed to make sure that we have consistent light in the Wharenui as we moved from filming in the day through to the evening and into night so we created our daylight.
One thing you hopefully won’t realise is that the majority of the interior tangi scenes were actually filmed at night and made to look like the day!
We had brought up white sheets to cover the windows of the Wharenui and had our blond and red heads shining through so we could control the light. As seen below… check this out!
Not bad right? I must say that it got pretty hot in the Wharenui with the lights shining in and the sheets closing it off … definitely a great way of getting to know each other haha.
Thank you to all our amazing extras who were involved in the Tangi scenes. We can’t tell you how much we appreciated you making the drive up!
Michele was fantastic and brought us up lots of delicious food to enjoy together. So grateful to have a camp Mum who knows how to look after crowds of hungry production people! Here we all are sharing a meal together.
